Held in downtown Iowa City, the Soul & Blues Festival (September 23-24) highlights the impact and popularity of two styles of music deeply connected to the Black experience in the United States. There is delicious food on offer from vendors lining the streets of downtown Iowa City while the music fills the summer air from the stage situated directly in front of the Old Capitol. ![]() The event has garnered several awards and serves as the unofficial launch of summer!Ī nationally respected annual celebration of one of America’s great cultural contributions, the Iowa City Jazz Festival (July 1-3) features some of the biggest names in jazz while also celebrating local and student talent.
